[pdx11-financing] obstacles to angel investing

New member to the mailing list here, haven't attended a meeting but hope to.
I am an entrepreneur that is currently raising a first round. Thought I'd
bring up one of the frustrations I have when it comes to funding in
Portland.
There are relatively few angels in Portland and the most well known are the
groups Oregon Angel Fund and Portland Angel Network. However, both groups
sit behind the OEN and charge an application fee to get your summary in
front of them.
If we want to see more investing happening with Portland/Oregon startups,
lets get Angels out from behind an unnecessary layer like the OEN and make
them more accessible to entrepreneurs. Why is it that I can rattle off the
names of nearly 2 dozen angels located in California but after the OAF and
PAN, I can only name a handful of individuals in Portland with the ability
to write a 6 figure check? I know there are more out there!
Anyway...just one of the problems I see. Would love everyone's feedback.
